Welcome and Thank you!
I want to again thank the nearly 4,000 people who took the time to vote in our recent municipal election. County-wide we saw turnout of just over 25%. But, in Shawnee, Ward 3, we saw turnout of nearly 30%, a 25% increase from 2019.
Our race was particularly close with just 38 votes separating me from my opponent. During my time on the Council, I strived to uphold the integrity of the office by treating our residents and my fellow council members with respect, making sure I was an engaged and responsive member of our community, and always serving as a positive ambassador for our amazing city. I always believed in building relationships and the value of people over personal gain. I always told the truth, even when it was not what people wanted to hear. I always strived to represent ALL our residents, not just those who agreed with me.
These values certainly resonated with many of our residents. The less than 1% difference between me and my opponent demonstrates that we are a diverse community with vastly different views and perspectives. It is incredibly important that our elected officials understand this diversity and work to find compromise.
We are amazingly blessed to be able to call Shawnee home and it was a privilege to get to know so many of you at the doors, town halls, and meetings. Many of you have reached out to me since the election and I am so grateful for your kind words. It is clear that our residents want leaders who are engaged, competent, and kind.
